{"id":464,"date":"2012-02-11T19:23:22","date_gmt":"2012-02-12T01:23:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.autumncalvert.com\/?p=464"},"modified":"2012-02-11T19:23:48","modified_gmt":"2012-02-12T01:23:48","slug":"fortune-cookie-kid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.autumncalvert.com\/home\/fortune-cookie-kid\/","title":{"rendered":"Fortune Cookie Kid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If you were to have told me how difficult being a parent was before I had a baby, the thought in my head would have been, &#8220;How difficult can being a stay-at-home mom be? \u00a0Really? \u00a0Stop your griping and complaining!&#8221;. \u00a0Yeah.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Not only is it difficult to be a stay at home mommy, but being a mommy of a child who is sick most days, and on the other days we have therapy appointments and doctors appointments and constant issues with his anger management and tantrums is far greater of a task than I could have ever imagined. \u00a0Our days start and end with therapy. \u00a0I am always trying to find different ways of incorporating the things he needs work on into regular play. \u00a0Then there are the tantrums. \u00a0Yes&#8230;every 2 year old has tantrums, but my kid has breakdowns like you would not believe. \u00a0Not just a few times a day, even. \u00a0ALL day. \u00a0I know it is because he is trying so hard to communicate. \u00a0We do a few signs, and we are learning more everyday. \u00a0However, he is still learning when he needs to use them. \u00a0It is an ongoing task. \u00a0And, forget using the vacuum or going out to eat. \u00a0Not happening if you want an enjoyable meal. \u00a0As for vacuuming, I have to do that when he is with Steve somewhere else.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So, in light of these things, this little story added a very bright light to a very dismal day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Each Wednesday night, a few of the people from church come over for a Bible study. \u00a0Once a month, we do a dinner. \u00a0A couple of weeks ago, we did an &#8220;Asian Cuisine&#8221; night. \u00a0It was divine. \u00a0For dessert, we all reached into a box, grabbed a fortune cookie, and read our fortunes out loud. \u00a0Actually, that in and of itself is funny: \u00a0a Bible study reading fortune cookies. \u00a0ANYWAY&#8230;I digress&#8230; \u00a0Everyone read their cookie, we all laughed, and they started in on the study while Asher and I played in his room. \u00a0After they all left, I picked up from the study, and found a couple of fortunes lying on the floor. \u00a0I threw them all away.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In order for you to really understand this story, I need to tell you how often I clean the floor in my house. \u00a0I sweep at least 3 times a day. \u00a0Sometimes more. \u00a0I straighten the house every night. \u00a0I have to be very careful with Asher because he is still eating everything.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The other night, I was sitting next to him watching him with the train set. \u00a0I looked away for a second, and there he stood with a little fortune cookie fortune. \u00a0&#8220;Where in the world did you find this, Asher?&#8221; \u00a0His response was, &#8220;Joy, joy, da da, ya ya, ba ba&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;Ok, &#8221; I said, &#8220;lets read this&#8221;. \u00a0It said, &#8220;Look for the dream that keeps coming back. \u00a0It is your destiny&#8221; \u00a0&#8220;Huh, &#8221; \u00a0I thought. \u00a0&#8220;I don&#8217;t remember anyone having this fortune!&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I sat there for a second and looked at my sweet little boy. \u00a0He was my dream. \u00a0He definitely keeps coming back (he he he). \u00a0And, I do believe deep down in my heart that I was destined to be his mother. \u00a0Even with all his little quirks, tantrums, health problems, and issues, he lights up my life brighter than any sun or star. \u00a0God knew he was in good hands with Steve and me. \u00a0I trust that. \u00a0Even though there are days I am not sure I can go on&#8230;I trust God. \u00a0Asher is the perfect little boy: \u00a0imperfections and all. \u00a0Of all the children there ever was or ever will be, I would pick him every time. \u00a0So, he is my dream and my destiny. \u00a0I guess God can even use fortune cookies to lift your spirit. \u00a0I love my little boy, and I am so happy God used him to remind me that what I do makes a difference.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you were to have told me how difficult being a parent was before I had a baby, the thought in my head would have been, &#8220;How difficult can being a stay-at-home mom be?
